Scotland and Faroes: Isles and Wonders
May 5 to May 17, 2027
You are invited to journey the rugged edges of the North Atlantic, where a landscape of wind, myth, and deep history awaits.
Adventure Canada’s Scotland and Faroes: Isles and Wonders expedition offers the rare opportunity to bypass the typical mainland routes.
Travelling aboard an intimate small ship, you will explore remote island outposts, navigate dramatic fjords, and encounter cultures shaped by the sea.
If you are ready for a meaningful journey into the wild, here is a look at the itinerary ahead:
-
Day 1: Aberdeen, Scotland – Your adventure kicks off in the striking "Granite City," where you'll settle into your cabin, meet your fellow travellers, and set sail into the North Sea.
-
Day 2: Kirkwall, Orkney – Step into deep time at the 4,000-year-old Ring of Brodgar, and stroll through a lovely local community watched over by a massive 12th-century Viking cathedral.
-
Day 3 & 4: Fair Isle, Foula & Papa Stour – Say hello to Scotland's most remote, tight-knit island communities! You'll watch thousands of puffins on the cliffs of Fair Isle, visit traditional crofts on Foula, and hop into Zodiacs to drift right into the spectacular sea caves of Papa Stour.
-
Days 5–7: The Faroe Islands – Spend three full days exploring this dramatic, green archipelago. You'll get to wander the colourful, turf-roofed lanes of the tiny capital, Tórshavn, and watch giant waterfalls plunge directly into the ocean from massive sea cliffs.
-
Day 8: Stornoway, Isle of Lewis – Back in Scotland, dive into Gaelic culture and stand among the mystical Calanais Standing Stones, which have braved the Atlantic winds since before the pyramids were built.
-
Day 9: St. Kilda – This is a truly wild highlight. Step ashore at Scotland’s outermost edge to explore an evocative, abandoned stone village where a tiny community once braved the elements until 1930.
-
Day 10: Isle of Skye – Keep an eye out for seals and oystercatchers along the shoreline as we cruise past the dramatic, mist-shrouded peaks of the iconic Cuillin Hills.
-
Day 11: Iona & Staffa – Soak in the incredibly peaceful, sacred atmosphere of the historic Iona Abbey, then head to the island of Staffa to see—and hear—the echoing, geologic marvel of Fingal's Cave.
-
Day 12: Islay – Toast to an incredible trip on the "Queen of the Hebrides," exploring medieval clan history at Loch Finlaggan and taking in the island's famous coastal charm.
-
Day 13: Glasgow (via Troon) – Wave goodbye to the sea as you disembark, heading home with a heart full of unforgettable northern memories and stories to tell!
